Femicide in Plourin-lès-Morlaix: suspect found unresponsive, inquiry opened
A man killed his neighbour and wounded her partner on Friday in Plourin-lès-Morlaix (Finistère). The suspect, born in 1962, was found unresponsive with a head injury.
Murder in public in Finistère: suspect airlifted in critical condition
A man shot dead his neighbour on public land and wounded her partner by gunfire in Plourin-lès-Morlaix, in Finistère, on Friday 4 September, according to TF1 Info. The incident occurred shortly after 2 p.m., following reports of "three shots (…) at several minutes' interval".
The suspect, "born in 1962", was found by gendarmes "unresponsive and armed", presenting "a head injury" suggesting "an apparent suicide attempt" on his part, according to a statement from the prosecutor of the Republic in Brest, Stéphane Kellenberger. He was subsequently "taken in charge by emergency services and airlifted in a very critical condition".
The victim's partner, "approximately 55 years old", had been shot when arriving at the scene. The prosecutor stated that he is "seriously wounded" but "appeared medically out of danger". The two victims were neighbours of the suspect.
The security perimeter established by the forces of order in this municipality of approximately 5,000 inhabitants was lifted following the operation, allowing traffic to resume normally. Earlier in the evening, the town hall had announced on Facebook the opening of a municipal hall to accommodate residents unable to return to their homes.
An on-the-spot inquiry was opened under the charges of murder and attempted murder, according to the public prosecutor's office. The investigation was assigned to the gendarmes' research brigade of Plourin-lès-Morlaix and the gendarmes' research section.
