On Monday 1 June, a domestic tragedy occurred in Sarreguemines. That same evening, a 50-year-old man voluntarily presented himself at the local police station. There he admitted to having killed the mother of his child, a 37-year-old woman, at the marital home.
According to his statements to investigators, the victim died by strangulation. The alleged perpetrator was remanded in custody following his police interrogation.
