Judicial seizure of €65 million from McKinsey for tax fraud
French courts have ordered the seizure of €65 million from the accounts of management consultancy McKinsey, according to Google News FR — Crime (fr), which cites an investigation published by Mediapart. This precautionary measure is being taken as part of legal proceedings for tax fraud against the American strategy consulting giant.
McKinsey has been under scrutiny from French authorities on fiscal matters for several years. The firm was already the subject of a Senate report in 2022 highlighting practices of aggressive tax optimisation, notably the fact that it paid no corporation tax in France for a decade.
The seizure of €65 million represents a significant step in this procedure: it allows the courts to freeze funds before any eventual conviction, in order to guarantee recovery of amounts potentially owed to the public treasury. McKinsey has not, according to Mediapart, made any public comment at this stage.
