Shooting in Plourin-lès-Morlaix: woman killed, neighbour wounded by gunfire
A woman in her sixties was killed on a public road in Finistère after a man in his fifties barricaded himself armed in a building.

According to bfmtv.com, a woman in her sixties was found dead on a public road in Plourin-lès-Morlaix (Finistère) on Friday 4 September in the afternoon. The incident followed the armed barricading of a man in his "fifties" inside a building in the municipality, according to a statement from the Brest prosecutor, Stéphane Kellenberger.
Around 2 p.m., gendarmes and rescue services intervened urgently after gunshots were reported to them. The prosecution clarified that two shots were initially mentioned, followed by a third.
Law enforcement first discovered the suspect unresponsive and armed, with a head wound. The prosecution indicated to BFMTV that the circumstances and findings allowed one to suppose an attempted suicide on his part. The man was subsequently airlifted in a "very critical" condition.
Once the scene was secured, investigators found the dead woman on a public road. A man in his mid-fifties, the victim's partner, had also been shot when they arrived on scene. Seriously wounded, he was nevertheless out of medical danger.
Prosecutor Kellenberger clarified that the killed woman and the wounded man are "apparently neighbours of the suspect". An investigation was opened on the spot, under the charges of murder and attempted murder.
Fifty gendarmes and three negotiators were deployed to the scene, according to a source from the gendarmerie transmitted to BFMTV. Three surveillance and intervention platoons of the gendarmerie were mobilised from Châteaulin, Landerneau and the Plourin-lès-Morlaix district.
The Finistère prefecture published a message on social network X calling on the population to absolutely avoid the sector of rue Pierre Grall and not to overload telephone lines. "The sector is sealed off and placed under the control of law enforcement," it added.
The Plourin-lès-Morlaix town hall in turn relayed the instructions on Facebook, asking residents to "not go to the affected sector, to strictly respect the instructions of law enforcement and not to hinder their interventions". A communal hall was opened to accommodate residents unable to return to their homes. A medical and psychological support unit was also put in place for those who felt they needed it.
