Shooting in Yutz: police officer fires on burglar after collision in Moselle
Two fleeing burglars collided with a police vehicle in Yutz after being caught red-handed in Rodemack. An officer opened fire, wounding one of the suspects in the leg.
A burglary in Rodemack turns into a chase in Yutz
According to republicain-lorrain.fr, gendarmes from Hettange-Grande intervened on Friday 5 June at around 11 a.m. in Rodemack, Moselle, for a burglary in progress. Two men, caught red-handed, fled in a Renault Mégane. Their number plate was recorded before they left the scene.
The suspects repeatedly refused to comply with orders from law enforcement. A chase ensued, involving both gendarmerie officers and the national police. It concluded in Yutz, on rue Jules-Verne, when the fugitives' vehicle collided with a police car.
Following this impact, a police officer opened fire. One of the two men — the passenger according to information from Républicain Lorrain — was hit in the leg. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene to provide care.
At 12 o'clock, the operation was still ongoing. The emergency services mobilised at the scene included two rescue and victim assistance vehicles (VSAV), a group leader vehicle, Samu 57, as well as units from the national police and gendarmerie.
