New shooting in Toulouse

According to france3-regions.franceinfo.fr, a shooting took place on Sunday 11 October 2026 at around 4:36 in the morning in the Mirail neighbourhood in Toulouse, specifically on Louis Auriacombe path in La Reynerie. A man was struck by a bullet in the foot.

Two masked individuals carried out the shooting from an electric scooter. The passenger fired three shots with a handgun before the pistol jammed, according to a police source. Two other people immediately took the victim to hospital by car.

Police officers discovered two 9mm cartridge cases at the scene. An investigation has been opened. The shooters' departure by scooter came after their flight from the neighbourhood, which remains a hotspot for drug trafficking.

The shooting is part of a series of incidents that regularly strike the Mirail housing estate. Between 4 and 6 October, the Empalot neighbourhood suffered three shootings in less than 72 hours. Residents have expressed their fears over stray bullets and have sent a petition to municipal elected representatives.

The mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, has reiterated his request to the interior minister for police reinforcements against drug trafficking. The municipality has launched a municipal police unit targeting drug dealing points, which has recorded 300 interventions with 36 arrests. Toulouse has also signed up to a Residential Calm Charter allowing for the expulsion of traffickers from social housing.
