Homicide in Gironde
According to BFM TV, a 30-year-old man was placed under formal investigation on Sunday for "voluntary manslaughter" in the shooting death of a teenager killed by gunfire on Thursday in Saint-Louis-de-Montferrand, in Gironde. The suspect, taken into custody on Friday, is a neighbour of the victim, according to the Prosecutor of the Republic for Bordeaux, Renaud Gaudeul.
The body of the 16-year-old youth was found on the banks of the Garonne with a "bullet impact to the head". A teenage girl of the same age was present at the scene, "apparently in a state of shock". An autopsy confirmed death by gunfire.
During his questioning, the suspect disputed the facts and remained silent. The prosecutor did not specify whether the investigation had established the motive for the crime. The man has no criminal record, but several firearms were seized at his home. He was remanded in custody.
