Around 20:30 on Sunday 7 June, a unit of the specialist terrain brigade (BST) was conducting a patrol on Rue des Eaux-Claires, in the district of the same name in Grenoble. Officers drew their attention to a vehicle parked in front of the building bearing the number 47, not far from an electric scooter. Two people were seated in this car.
Suddenly, the occupant of the passenger seat got out and attempted to take the motorised two-wheeler. Having failed to do so, he took to his heels. The officers gave chase and captured him despite his escape attempt, which saw him jump over a gate. Upon conducting a pat-down, the police officers found on his person a bag containing white powder, cannabis in the form of flowers and resin.
During this same period, the driver had begun a reverse manoeuvre to escape, but he too was stopped. A search of his vehicle uncovered another container with products of the same nature. Furthermore, he was in possession of a sum exceeding 800 euros in notes.
Aged 19 and 33, the two suspects were taken to the police station and remanded in custody. The charges brought against them include possession of narcotics with intent to supply and money laundering from the proceeds of illegal trafficking.
