On Monday, investigators remanded three individuals in custody — an adult and two teenagers — as part of the investigation into a shooting that bloodied Grenoble on 26 May. The incident occurred near a drugs dealing area in a sector known for its tensions. The intervention of the Lyon prosecution office made it possible to confirm that these police custody measures were still active at the beginning of the week.

The consequences of this armed brawl were dramatic: five people were hit, all of them having previous records with the justice system. Among them, a man in his thirties succumbed to his injuries after being struck by two projectiles in the back. The four others were hospitalised, some in a serious condition.

Étienne Manteaux, the magistrate in charge of the case in Grenoble, had quickly established a link between these events and another tragedy that occurred a few days earlier. The previous Sunday, in the neighbouring locality of Échirolles, a sixteen-year-old was found dead inside a burning car, victim of a similar attack. For the public prosecutor, the facts in Grenoble constitute a direct response to this first homicide.

This succession of revenge killings shines a light on the endemic violence that accompanies the illicit trade in narcotics in the region. The investigation services are continuing their work to establish the exact participation of each of the three suspects in this bloodshed case.
