Three men suspected of planning departure towards the Islamic State organisation in Africa and/or a violent attack targeting the Jewish community were charged on Saturday 5 September with "criminal conspiracy for terrorism with a view to preparing one or more offences against persons", BFM TV has learned from the National Counter-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (Pnat).
The investigation, entrusted to the Directorate-General for Internal Security (DGSI), had begun in early July around the "jihadist activities of members of a WhatsApp group entitled 'Soldiers of Allah'", according to details provided on Friday by the Pnat.
The three men had been arrested and held in police custody on Tuesday, following investigations conducted by the DGSI. The Pnat had opened a judicial investigation for terrorist conspiracy from Friday onwards, resulting in the appointment of an investigating judge.
