Fatal shooting in the Farouette district

A 23-year-old man was killed by gunshot outside Sylvain Dauriac primary school, in the Farouette district of Toulouse, at around 3 a.m. on Sunday 6 September 2026, actu.fr reports.

According to a source close to the investigation cited by actu.fr, the victim was shot in the head before collapsing on Rue Paul-Lambert. His death was officially recorded at 3.52 a.m. at Purpan hospital.

The visible bullet impacts on the façade of the school building testify to the violence of the gunfire. The perpetrators also hit the school's gas meter twice, causing a gas leak that forced authorities to establish a safety perimeter around the building.

Emergency services, quickly dispatched to the scene, were unable to revive the victim. The same source close to the investigation indicates that police found large-calibre cartridge cases at the scene. No direct witnesses to the shooting were identified.

The Toulouse public prosecutor's office, immediately seized of the matter, opened an investigation for voluntary manslaughter, entrusted to the organised and specialised crime division.
