The incident took place in the city centre. The driver, heavily intoxicated, first struck another vehicle, then directed his car towards the municipal police officers who had responded to the scene.
The officers were able to avoid the collision without suffering serious injury. The young man was arrested following the incident.
The authorities opened judicial proceedings against him for driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and endangering the lives of others. The matter was referred to the Nantes public prosecutor's office.
