18-year-old Martinique youth shot dead in Grenoble in drugs-related killing
A young man from Fort-de-France was found riddled with bullets in a burning car in Échirolles. The Lyon JIRS has been given the case for organised-gang murder.

An 18-year-old Martinique youth, originally from Fort-de-France, was shot dead on Sunday 24 May in Échirolles, a suburb of Grenoble, in the Olympic village district. His charred body was discovered on the rear seat of a burning vehicle around 5 a.m. by firefighters who responded to the scene, according to rci.fm.
The tragedy occurs in the context of drug trafficking. According to information gathered by the editorial team, the young man is understood to have been sent to Grenoble as part of a "contract". His last words, recorded in a video that has since circulated widely on social media, bear witness to this: "I was sent for a contract in Grenoble. I am paying the consequences. And everyone who is going to work for these same people will pay for it too, like me."
Chilling videos circulated on social media
Two videos, whose authenticity remains to be confirmed at this stage, were posted online by the suspected perpetrators. The first shows the victim sitting on the ground, his hands apparently tied behind his back, reading a text with the barrel of an automatic weapon pointed at his head, before being shot. The second, filmed at night in the street, shows a figure in a hooded jumper firing repeatedly through the rear window of a vehicle parked in a car park.
According to colleagues at Le Figaro and Dauphiné Libéré, this vehicle would be the same one found on fire on which firefighters discovered the victim's body. The autopsy, which was due to be carried out on Monday 25 May, had not yet released its findings at the time of publication of the article.
Lyon JIRS given the case for organised-gang murder
The toll from this shooting stands at one dead and four wounded at a drugs-dealing point in the city of Grenoble. The Specialised Interregional Court (JIRS) of Lyon was co-given the inquiry jointly with the national anti-crime prosecutor's office, for "organised-gang murder".
The emotion caused by this tragedy extends beyond the borders of Isère: in Martinique too, the news provoked a strong reaction, particularly because of the massive circulation of the videos on social media, which documented the final moments of the young man.
