Former footballer Samir Nasri spent approximately ten hours in custody on Thursday 9 July at the premises of the Financial Research Brigade (BRIF) of the Paris judicial police. The interrogation is part of an investigation into drug importation, criminal association, and money laundering linked to an organised crime network, according to COPE.
The investigation focuses on two key figures: Karim Berrebouh, a drug trafficker from Marseille incarcerated since 2021, and Olivier Sabbah, considered to be one of the pillars of the money laundering network for Berrebouh's criminal activities.
Nasri's alleged involvement in money laundering would be linked to his role as former manager of the nightclub 'XS', located in Ivry-sur-Seine. The former footballer became a shareholder of the establishment around 2016.
This custody comes following a first arrest at the end of June in Marseille. Although the custody was lifted that same night without legal proceedings being initiated against him, Nasri could be summoned to appear before court soon.
In parallel, the former footballer is also subject to an investigation by the French tax authorities. Despite the fact that he has his tax residence in Dubai, where taxes are virtually non-existent, he is suspected of actually residing in Paris.
According to an investigation by the newspaper 'Les Échos', it was 200 food delivery orders placed via the Deliveroo application that allegedly exposed Nasri, raising doubts about his actual residence.
