National Financial Prosecutor opens investigation into media outlet owned by Rodolphe Saadé
The National Financial Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation targeting the newspaper La Tribune, owned by industrialist Rodolphe Saadé. The alleged facts include acts of corruption and influence-trafficking within a criminal organisation, in the context of a Europe-Africa forum set up by the publication.
On Tuesday 30 June, investigators from the Marseille police carried out searches at the offices of the departmental council of Bouches-du-Rhône and those of the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolitan authority. The objective was to gather evidence relating to the preparation of this event.
These judicial searches evoke a previous case. In September 2025, the same two public bodies had already been subject to searches during the municipal election period. Their leader at the time, Martine Vassal, was then running for mayor of Marseille. Under the authority of the local prosecutor's office, police had sought evidence in a case of alleged corruption, influence-peddling and misappropriation of public funds. This procedure had been triggered following an alert raised by Erwan Davoux, former head of international relations at the department.
