Complaint filed following serious injury

According to Le Nouvel Obs, the parents of Eden, 14, announced on Monday 5 October that they would file a complaint following their son's serious injury. The teenager was struck in the face by a grenade launcher projectile on 28 September during a demonstration by secondary school pupils outside the vocational college Château d'Épluches in Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône (Val-d'Oise).

Eden sustained severe fractures to his jaw and significant dental injuries: all his upper teeth are broken, several lower teeth knocked out. He had to be hospitalised and can only eat through a straw. A week after the incident, he left the hospital.

His mother said at a press conference in Paris: "I am angry, my heart is in pieces." She stated that her son was suffering physically and psychologically. The parents filed a complaint for "attempted voluntary homicide", "voluntary violence with weapons committed by persons holding public authority against a minor under 15 years of age" and "failure to render assistance to a person in danger". An investigation is under way.
