The partial suspended sentence means that the deprivation of civil rights would only apply in the event of reoffending, but the conviction itself could prevent her participation in the election.
The court found that Le Pen and other party officials had misappropriated funds from the European Parliament intended to pay parliamentary assistants. These sums had allegedly actually been used to finance personnel working for the party in France.
