McKinsey: €65 million seized in Belgium for suspected tax fraud

Seizure of €65 million: the PNF strikes McKinsey in Belgium
Approximately €65 million was seized on 19 August by Belgian justice authorities as part of the investigation targeting McKinsey for laundering aggravated tax fraud, according to Google News FR — Crime (fr). The sum represents, according to the national financial prosecutor's office (PNF), "96% of the estimated tax damage" in this case.
The announcement was made on Friday 4 September by national financial prosecutor Pascal Prache and Brussels King's Prosecutor Julien Moinil in a joint statement. The two magistrates indicated that the seizure had been obtained "within the framework of international mutual legal assistance", following a request made by the PNF to the Belgian prosecutor's office.
The American consulting giant has been targeted since March 2022 by a preliminary investigation entrusted to the National Anti-Fraud Office (Onaf). It was opened in continuation of the work of a Senate investigative commission examining the influence of private consulting firms on public policy since Emmanuel Macron came to power in 2017. The criminal investigation targets an alleged tax arrangement of McKinsey's French entities, which would have enabled them to pay no corporation tax between 2011 and 2020. Witness and suspect interviews took place in 2025 and 2026.
This seizure is distinct from judicial investigations opened subsequently, notably for "non-compliant keeping of campaign accounts" — concerning the involvement of consulting firms in Emmanuel Macron's electoral campaigns in 2017 and 2022, subsequently expanded to include the years 2015 and 2016 — as well as for favouritism.
Raids had already been carried out at the homes of McKinsey managers and former managers, at the Ministry of Health, at the Paris headquarters of the firm, as well as at the headquarters of the Renaissance party and its financing association.
