An official from the DGSI, the unit responsible for monitoring the far-right and radical masculinist currents, has spoken exceptionally on this phenomenon. He indicated concern about the "strong terrorist potential" of this ideological faction.
This statement follows the arrest last July of an 18-year-old man in Saint-Étienne. The latter, linked to masculinist circles, was suspected of preparing an attack. Masculinism, a movement promoting hatred of women, is now considered a distinct security threat by the authorities.
Magistrates and law enforcement are being called on to adapt quickly to this emerging risk. A journalist from Radio France's investigation unit conducted investigative work on this concerning phenomenon, notably gathering rare testimonies from internal intelligence officers.
This case is part of a broader context of gender-based violence affecting French society, as the executive branch faces strong criticism over the handling of sexual violence and femicides.
