A man in his thirties was found dead in a public place in Clécy (Calvados) during the night of Friday 11 to Saturday 12 September 2026, reports ouest-france.fr. The victim succumbed to knife wounds despite emergency services' intervention.
The Public Prosecutor of Caen, Joël Garrigue, confirmed that a suspect had been placed in police custody and then committed for trial for voluntary homicide. The man in question claims an "accidental knife wound" to explain the facts.
On Saturday 12 September, until 14:30, forensic identification services operated at the scene of the tragedy, located a few metres from the road connecting Flers to Caen, in order to carry out samples.
The mayor of Clécy, Romuald Ferrari, clarified that the victim was not a resident of the commune. "The victim is not a resident of Clécy," he declared, adding that he did not have any other information.
