Homicide in Faa'a: investigation opened following death of man stabbed at his home
A man in his thirties was stabbed at his home in the Faatauira neighbourhood, beachside, at around 1:30 a.m. during the night of Wednesday to Thursday 13 August, in Faa'a. The victim did not survive his injuries. According to Google News FR — Crime (fr), an investigation for wilful homicide has been opened following the incident.
The victim's partner, a woman in her thirties, as well as a man from the family aged around fifty have been arrested and held in police custody, confirmed the prosecutor. The exact role of each person in the blows inflicted on the victim remains to be determined at this stage of the investigation. According to information gathered, the man in question has a mental disability.
A resident of the house, woken during the night, described the circumstances in which she discovered the tragedy: "She told me: 'wake up mum and dad, we've stabbed someone'. But these are people who argue a lot, so I didn't take it seriously. But I still knocked on my parents-in-law's door. They wouldn't wake up, so I didn't insist. It was the blue lights that alerted me. I was the first one down. I just saw him lying on the ground and he was in resuscitation."
The rest of the family, still in shock, continues to reside in the house where the tragedy took place. The investigations must now make it possible to reconstruct the precise sequence of events during the night and to establish the responsibilities of each of the two suspects.
