In the night between Saturday and Sunday, the body of a 37-year-old man was discovered in Bégard, a town situated between Lannion and Guingamp in Côtes-d'Armor. Gendarmes found the deceased bearing multiple injuries caused by a blade. According to reports by ICI Breizh Izel and confirmed by Ouest-France with the Saint-Brieuc judiciary, one of the wounds had struck the heart.
Shortly after the body was discovered, a 23-year-old man was apprehended by investigators. During his police custody, he admitted to inflicting the fatal blows with a knife.
The public prosecutor's office requested and obtained his committal for trial for intentional homicide. The investigating magistrate moreover decided on his remand in custody pending further proceedings.
