Appeal of murder conviction

According to Le Figaro, Loïk Le Priol, 32, has decided to appeal his conviction to 26 years of criminal imprisonment for the murder of rugby player Federico Martin Aramburu. His accomplice Romain Bouvier, sentenced to 19 years for attempted murder, had announced his appeal three days earlier.

The trial took place in Paris from 7 to 25 September. It centred on the degree of responsibility of the two men and the question of premeditation. On the night of 18 to 19 March 2022, an altercation broke out on the terrace of a bistro on Boulevard Saint-Germain, in the 6th arrondissement. Bouvier fired four times at the victim, hitting him in the side and thigh. Less than a minute later, Le Priol emptied his magazine into Aramburu.

Le Priol's lawyers did not wish to comment on this appeal decision for the time being. The case enters a new judicial phase ten days after the court verdict.
