Aramburú trial: accused with lasting links to the RN movement
From 7 September, four people are being tried before the Paris court of assizes for the murder of Argentine rugby player Federico Martín Aramburú, killed in Paris in 2022, according to Mediapart.fr.
The two suspected assassins, Loïk Le Priol and Romain Bouvier, are said to have moved in a circle of friends for several years that mixed associates of Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, heads of the party's youth branch, as well as activists from the GUD, a far-right splinter group.
Alongside the two men, two other people from their circle at the time are among the defendants. All are now attempting to downplay these political connections.
The trial is opening at a sensitive moment for the National Rally, ahead of the next presidential campaign. The party would have preferred to do without this reminder of its past links with the accused, Mediapart reports.
