Montpellier-Alès: two drug traffickers imprisoned, 7 kg of cannabis seized
Two men aged 31 and 44 were remanded in custody on Friday following the discovery of 7 kg of cannabis, 1 kg of cocaine and €26,000 during searches conducted by narcotics officers.
Drug trafficking: two suspects remanded in detention
According to midilibre.fr, two men aged 31 and 44 were imprisoned on Friday after appearing before the judge for liberty and detention (JLD) of the Alès court. The suspects are implicated in a major narcotics trafficking network linking Montpellier and Alès.
One of the two was arrested earlier in the week in Montpellier, the other in Saint-Christol-lez-Alès. During searches conducted by the narcotics squad of the Territorial Crime Division (DCT), police seized €26,000, 7 kg of cannabis, 1.5 kg of cannabis herb and nearly 1 kg of cocaine.
The defence had sought release under judicial supervision. The public prosecutor, meanwhile, firmly requested remand in custody. After deliberation, the JLD ordered the imprisonment of the two suspects.
