A woman whose child is among five minors remanded in custody for the homicide of a 17-year-old teenager at Narbonne has agreed to speak anonymously.

A woman living in Narbonne whose son is among five minors charged with the death of Louis, a 17-year-old teenager found dead on 19 June, has agreed to speak to the press. She insisted that her identity remain secret, fearing further attacks against her.
According to her remarks reported by L'Indépendant, exchanges with her son, also aged 17, had become significantly less frequent since he had moved back to live with his father in September 2025. Their last meeting had taken place seven days before the events, when she had gone to collect him from the gendarmerie following a positive breath-test reading.
She does not seek to excuse the acts committed. The videos of the assault are, in her view, damning. Yet she refuses to disown her child, whilst acknowledging that she may never be able to look him in the face again. Her priority now lies with Louis's loved ones, whom she hopes to be able to help, although she knows that her regrets will not bring back the young man.
Her dearest wish would have been to receive a call from her son that evening, which would have enabled her to intervene and save the victim's life.
She describes a troubled adolescent, incapable of controlling his reactions, and living in a bubble far from the real world. The multiple successive placements in accommodation facilities have, in her view, only worsened his condition. At the moment he acted, she believes he sought to impress his accomplices by playing tough.
The child had been taken from her because of violence suffered within the couple. For fifteen years, he had been passed between care homes and foster families. She claims to have attempted in vain to regain his custody, but the services consistently refused her.
She further denounces the complete absence of psychiatric evaluation for her son. Her requests to this effect had been rejected on the grounds of his young age. She denounces persistent dysfunctions within the institutions responsible for his protection over all these years. She calls for a thorough investigation to prevent other tragedies from occurring.
Regarding the educational support ordered upon his return to his father's home, she denounces an unacceptable delay in intervention. The educators eventually made contact with him on the very day of the tragedy.
Five young people have been remanded in custody for their involvement in the fatal ambush that claimed Louis's life during the night of 19 June at Narbonne.
