Some three thousand people took part, on Sunday 13 July 2026, in a white march along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. This gathering aimed to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the truck attack that had devastated the city on 14 July 2016.
The marchers, dressed in light colours and carrying bouquets, followed the route taken by the nineteen-tonne truck during its deadly rampage. The toll of this terrorist attack stands at eighty-six deaths and over four hundred wounded.
The procession paid tribute to the firefighters mobilised on the evening of the tragedy. Lieutenant Frédéric Dal-Pont, who was part of the rescue teams, recalled that the responders had acted as rescuers, not as victims. The fishermen also paid their respects to the deceased at the precise location where the vehicle had been stopped and its driver neutralised.
A moment of silence was observed in front of the Ange de la Baie, a statue symbolising remembrance. Further ceremonies are planned in the following days, including one at which the President of the Republic will be present.
