Osteopath sentenced to two years' imprisonment for sexual assault of patients in Courbevoie
A 35-year-old osteopath practising in the Hauts-de-Seine department has been sentenced on Monday to two years' imprisonment for sexual assault of two patients, one of whom was a 14-year-old minor.
Two years' imprisonment for an osteopath in the Hauts-de-Seine
A 35-year-old osteopath practising in Courbevoie and Boulogne-Billancourt was sentenced on Monday, 1 June, to three years' imprisonment, two of which are without remission, for sexual assault of two patients, one of whom was a 14-year-old adolescent. According to France Info, which obtained the information from the counsel for the civil parties, the sentence is accompanied by a committal order: the defendant was imprisoned immediately following the judgment.
The court also imposed a permanent ban on practising as an osteopath. The man is furthermore prohibited from making contact with his two victims for three years.
Restrictions extended over ten years
The court imposed additional measures for a period of ten years: the convicted man may not engage in any professional or voluntary activity involving regular contact with minors. He also loses his eligibility rights for three years and his name is entered in the automated judicial database of perpetrators of sexual or violent offences (FIJAISV).
The acts were classified as "aggravated" sexual assault, notably on account of the position of authority which the osteopath held over his patients in the context of his professional function.
Acts dating from 2024 and 2025, an initial complaint in 2021
The acts in question took place in 2024 and 2025. An initial complaint had nonetheless been filed against him as early as 2021, before being dismissed without further action.
During the investigation, the defendant, identified as Arthur C., denied all the accusations. During his interviews, he told investigators that his patients had probably misinterpreted his gestures, or that they had carried out a transference by releasing memories of a previous sexual assault.
