Paris: curfew at République and Les Halles from 11pm
The Paris police prefect ordered a curfew on Monday evening around Place de la République and the Les Halles sector, following several nights of violence and looting. All presence will be strictly prohibited from 11pm to 6am.

Curfew and assembly bans in Paris
According to Actu17, the police prefect issued curfew orders in Paris on Monday evening. All presence, whether of adults or minors, is now strictly prohibited from 11pm to 6am in the restricted perimeters of Place de la République and the Les Halles sector. Orders banning assemblies and demonstrations also apply to wider areas of the capital, from 8pm to 6am.
These measures come after nights of violence and looting involving groups of young delinquents. On Sunday evening, Place de la République was the scene of confrontations between protesters and law enforcement, before shops were looted during the night. An enhanced police operation will be deployed to ensure "strict compliance with these measures".
The Police Prefectorate justifies these orders by the need to "protect persons and property from the risks of violence and looting committed in recent days". It emphasises that "everyone's safety makes these provisions necessary to restore public peace, which a minority of delinquents has seriously undermined".
These measures were taken in accordance with instructions from Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu and Interior Minister Nunez Laurent. Following an interministerial crisis cell meeting at midday, Lecornu asked prefects to resort to this type of measure. "I asked the prefects to trigger a certain number of curfews for this evening. They will be partial, they can be very localised," he declared, also announcing a "massive criminal response".
Curfews have also been ordered in other cities in the North: Lille, Douai, Denain and Wattignies. The measures in Paris came into effect on Monday evening and remain in place until 6am on Tuesday.
