On Monday 28 September, the Paris court held the final day of hearing in the case in which former justice minister Rachida Dati faces charges of corruption and abuse of influence alongside the former head of Renault-Nissan Carlos Ghosn, absent from the dock.
During the morning, the two magistrates from the PNF unveiled the sentences they wished to see applied. One of them emphasised the serious nature of the conduct in question, finding that it shakes public confidence in political representatives and undermines the foundations of the democratic system.
Subsequently, the counsel for the main defendant was to develop their defence arguments. The panel of judges was then to meet in chambers to rule on the case.
