French LFI parliamentarian found guilty of cheque theft
Paris magistrates imposed a financial sanction on LFI elected representative Sophia Chikirou on Monday. The court found her guilty of misappropriating cheques that were ultimately never used. The sentence amounts to €8,000, of which €4,000 is accompanied by a suspended sentence. At the same time, she was cleared of fraud accusations brought in the same case. DHNET reports the facts.
This legal matter resurfaced during her election campaign for municipal elections in the capital. The magistrates accused her of attempting, during the summer of 2018, to transfer funds belonging to Le Media, an online audiovisual platform that she had helped create and was no longer presiding over at that time.
The elected representative did not attend the hearing at which the verdict was delivered. It was magistrate Guillaume Daieff who read the judgment.
