The singer is facing a fifth complaint of rape, filed in late June in Nanterre, whilst already under investigation in four other cases of sexual assault.

The Nanterre public prosecutor's office received a new complaint against singer and actor Patrick Bruel on 24 June, the complainant's lawyer revealed on Friday. This proceedings is added to four others in which the 67-year-old performer is being prosecuted.
Tristan Vieules-Augendre told AFP that his client preferred to remain anonymous for now. She has chosen to disclose the circumstances of the alleged facts only to the magistrates in charge of the investigation.
The artist is already subject to four orders to stand trial handed down on 10 June: an alleged rape committed in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 2008, an attempted rape in Brussels in 2010, sexual assault and sexual harassment in Perpignan in 2019, as well as a case of sexual harassment in Ajaccio the same year. Additionally, he is being heard as a witness with the status of assisted witness in four other proceedings.
Since his first order to stand trial, at least five further statements have been made against the artist for sexual offences dating from 1992 to 2014. The investigating magistrates are also examining reports from several other women, although these facts appear in principle to be time-barred.
From the opening of the proceedings, the accused has contested all charges. His lawyers responded by stating that he would defend himself "against these absurd accusations in the only relevant and appropriate framework: the courts". According to them, "only the judicial authority is today in a position to establish the facts in a case constantly clouded by media noise".
