Dismantling of a trafficking operation in Rennes

The anti-crime unit of Rennes arrested two men on 6 November 2025 as part of an investigation into drug trafficking. According to actu.fr, the arrest was made in flagrante delicto: police caught the suspects at the moment when one of them was handing over a bag containing narcotics to his accomplice.

Frédéric Teillet, prosecutor of the Republic at the Rennes public prosecution office, indicated that the first suspect had been "under surveillance for several days", his behaviour suggesting involvement in drug trafficking. The second was identified as being responsible for delivering narcotics in the Rennes region.

Massive seizures in Chantepie

A search carried out in Chantepie, in premises operated by one of the two men, revealed the scale of the trafficking. Investigators discovered a total of 45.1 kilogrammes of narcotics there: 7 kg of cannabis herb, 15.5 kg of cannabis resin, 9.8 kg of ecstasy, 11.3 kg of ketamine and 1.5 kg of cocaine.

Beyond the drugs, police seized weapons of categories A and B, as well as 16,450 euros in cash. The premises also contained packaging intended for retail sale of these illicit products.

Trial and previous convictions

The two individuals, aged between 20 and 30 and residing in the Rennes region, were taken into custody and then brought before the prosecutor on Monday 10 November. They will appear on Wednesday 12 November at the magistrates' court in immediate appearance proceedings.

The first suspect has a criminal record, whilst the second has a clean record. They are being prosecuted for unauthorised acquisition, possession, transport and transfer of narcotics. The first is also facing an additional charge: unauthorised possession of weapons and category A military equipment.

Both men were remanded in custody pending trial, in accordance with the public prosecution service's submissions.
