Assault outside a school building
A teacher was doused with petrol and then struck outside the lycée de la Méditerranée in La Ciotat (Bouches-du-Rhône) on Friday morning, in the course of a school blockade. According to Actu17, the assault was filmed by several witnesses who published their videos on social media. The images show two individuals dressed in black attacking the teacher.
The teacher was attempting to extinguish a fire lit by pupils on a tree in front of the establishment. During his intervention, he threw earth on the flames and used a small fire extinguisher at a distance, taking care not to aim it at the pupils. It was at the moment when he was getting rid of the apparatus, his feet near the fire, that he was suddenly doused with petrol. "The petrol came very strongly in my direction, straight away, there was a burning in my eye," the teacher said to BFMTV.
The impact was immediate: an eye burn and petrol running down his face and body. Seconds after the dousing, the attacker who had poured the petrol kicked him before fleeing. The Marseille prosecutor's office has opened an investigation to identify the perpetrators and the exact circumstances of this incident.
