Orange secondary-school teacher put on trial for rape of minors, around ten victims
A French teacher at the Arc secondary school in Orange has been arrested and put on trial for rape and sexual assault against several underage pupils. Judicial proceedings have been opened by the Carpentras prosecutor's office.

According to Google News LU FR, a French teacher at the Arc secondary school in Orange was arrested earlier in the week and brought before the Carpentras prosecutor's office on Wednesday 1 July. He is suspected of rape and sexual assault against several pupils.
The case originates from a sexual assault complaint filed in 2022, concerning incidents dating back to 2003. This file was identified as a priority in the context of the re-examination of 70,000 complaints requested by the Ministry of Justice.
The exact number of victims has not yet been established, but nearly ten people have been interviewed. They report offences committed in Orange between 2003 and 2026, when they were minors and the accused was their teacher. Further complaints have been filed since the initial interviews.
The Carpentras prosecutor's office has opened judicial proceedings on several charges: rape of a minor by a person in authority over the victim between October 2008 and May 2009, and rape by a person in authority over the victim between January 2020 and July 2021.
The police investigation is continuing and could be taken over by the Central Operations and Monitoring Directorate (DCOS) in Avignon.
