Four men have been convicted by Libourne court for drug trafficking, whilst a fifth has been acquitted, in a case uncovered by reports from neighbours.

Libourne court delivered its verdict on Thursday 2 July 2026 in a drug trafficking case involving five men, according to Sud Ouest. Four defendants were convicted, whilst the fifth was acquitted of the trafficking charges.
The investigation had been triggered by reports from residents of a Libourne residential building, who had noticed suspicious comings and goings, exchanges of notes and small bags in the street. The gendarmerie then arrested five people, including three members of the same family.
The youngest defendant, aged 18, claimed he had acted under pressure from his half-brother. The latter was however acquitted of trafficking due to lack of evidence, but received a six-month suspended sentence for drug use. He repeated throughout the hearing: "I did nothing, I have nothing to reproach myself for."
Their uncle, also on the defendant's bench, was convicted of trafficking despite his denials. He had been staying with them occasionally since a heart attack that occurred earlier in the year.
The sentences pronounced ranged from six to eighteen months' imprisonment, all or in part subject to probationary suspension. The defendants must also undergo treatment, work and respect a prohibition on contact between themselves.
