Four Spanish nationals have been arrested in southern France on suspicion of being involved in the theft of a luxury watch worth approximately 260,000 euros. The victim is a tourist from Brazil who was in Saint-Tropez. The incident occurred on Friday in this prestigious Côte d'Azur resort, renowned for attracting celebrities, wealthy visitors and travellers from all walks of life each summer.

According to information reported by ERT News, the four individuals in question fled in a vehicle. They were apprehended shortly afterwards in the commune of Cogolin, located near Saint-Tropez, and taken into custody. This arrest followed a car chase on the winding roads of the Saint-Tropez gulf, according to the newspaper Nice Matin.

The gendarmerie also indicated that approximately fifteen luxury watches have been stolen since the beginning of the summer season. In four of these cases, eight people have already been arrested. Investigations are continuing for the remaining cases.

In response to this wave of crime, the Grasse-Saint-Tropez gendarmerie group received reinforcements this year. A detachment from the Central Office for Combating Itinerant Delinquency (OCLDI) was deployed on site to deal specifically with cases of high-end watch thefts.
