According to Google News FR — Crime (fr), police officers in Saumur (Maine-et-Loire) faced a fresh refusal to comply on Friday 14 August, just days after a 23-year-old man had collided with their vehicle in similar circumstances.

While on patrol, the officers attempted to intercept a driver travelling in the wrong direction. The driver then attempted to evade them by driving recklessly: he drove onto the pavement before striking the police vehicle. The incident was reported by law enforcement on their social media accounts.

The man subsequently left his electric buggy and attempted to flee on foot. He was eventually arrested without managing to escape. An alcohol breath test proved positive.

Several days after his arrest, the court in Saumur sentenced him to a term of imprisonment.
