Reims: 17-year-old girl stabbed 12 times by her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend
An extremely violent assault struck Reims railway station on Friday 12 June at around 20:40. A 17-year-old girl was savagely attacked with a knife by her former partner, a 28-year-old man, according to TF1 Info.
Emergency services intervened quickly to help the young victim, who was evacuated to intensive care. Her life remains in danger and doctors have not yet been able to lift the alert regarding her vital prognosis.
On the evening of the same day, police arrested the main suspect, who had been in a romantic relationship with the victim previously. His custody was extended over the weekend.
François Schneider, magistrate at the local prosecutor's office, revealed that the girl is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, whilst her alleged assailant is an Angolan national. Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple's separation would be the reason for this act of violence.
Investigators have opened a judicial inquiry for "attempted murder". Although the man has no previous convictions, proceedings for domestic violence had already been initiated against him concerning this same victim. The public prosecutor's office requested his remand in custody. When questioned by investigators, the suspect chose not to speak.
