The island's administrative court upheld, on 30 June, the closure of a café-games establishment located in Port. The prefectoral order dated 28 November 2025, which ordered the closure for a period of four months of the venue named Chez Maly, was judged to comply with the law. A judge dealing with emergency matters had previously suspended this measure pending a full examination of the case.
The establishment was targeted because it was presumed to serve as cover for recycling proceeds from the drugs trade. The ruling is based on the law of 13 June 2025 relating to the fight against drug trafficking, which grants prefects the power to close a business for up to six months maximum when it is suspected of being used to launder illicit profits or to organise trafficking.
For the State services, this decision paves the way to "intensify enforcement action against the drugs trade economy". It is part of the regional major initiative "Zero drugs", officially launched on 26 June.
