Fatal knife fight in Clermont-Ferrand: one dead, one seriously wounded and two suspects arrested

A violent altercation broke out on Saturday 13 June 2026 at around 22:30 in Clermont-Ferrand, in Puy-de-Dôme, leaving one person dead and another in critical condition. The incident occurred outside the Michelin site, place des Carmes, in the city centre.
Officers from the anti-crime squad, the first to arrive at the scene, discovered a man lying on the ground. Bystanders were already attempting to perform cardiac massage on him. The police officers continued resuscitation procedures whilst awaiting medical assistance.
The person struck in the chest was taken in cardiac and respiratory arrest to the Clermont-Ferrand university hospital centre, where he succumbed to his injuries. Another individual, wounded in the abdomen, was also admitted to hospital. His condition was deemed critical at the time of admission, according to information gathered by ICI Pays d'Auvergne.
Two men aged 20 were apprehended and placed in police custody as part of the investigation. The knife used during the assault was recovered by investigators.
The territorial crime division was seized of the matter. The investigations aim to establish the exact circumstances of this fight and the role of each of the two suspects.
