A 25-year-old man has been taken into custody in Saint-Étienne (Loire) on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter following the death of a 24-year-old man, which occurred in the night of Saturday to Sunday. According to France Info, the man in question accused the victim of attempting to steal his vehicle.
The victim received two knife wounds to the lower limbs. Despite intervention by firefighters and first aid administered at the scene, he died several hours after the incident.
The victim was known to police in an unfavourable manner.
It was the partner of the man taken into custody who alerted the authorities in the evening. Concerned by the suspicious behaviour of the deceased man around the couple's vehicle, she had contacted the police before the situation escalated.
The suspect is suspected of having inflicted the fatal blows. An investigation into voluntary manslaughter is underway.
