Sainte-Marie: man held in custody after shooting of man in his forties
Gendarmes arrested a suspect on Thursday 11 June as part of an investigation into an attempted murder. This procedure follows a shooting that shook the centre of Sainte-Marie on 27 May.
During this incident, a 39-year-old man received three bullets, striking him in the belly and back. He had been hospitalised in what was considered a serious condition.
Investigators were able to trace the alleged attacker by exploiting images captured by surveillance cameras deployed throughout the municipality. This material was the decisive element that made it possible to identify the shooter.
The suspect was placed in provisional detention at the gendarmerie facilities. His appearance before the magistrates of the Fort-de-France public prosecutor's office was expected for the following weekend, who will decide on any further prosecution.
