Nearly 2.7 tonnes of cannabis resin were intercepted at Sète port (Hérault) on 24 May, according to medias24.com. The operation, coordinated with Morocco's General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), targeted a supply network between Morocco and northern France.
A preliminary investigation opened in April 2026 by the Lille public prosecutor's office triggered this large-scale judicial intervention across four sites on French territory. Lille's Search Section, the GIGN and several gendarmerie units participated in the operation.
Investigators intercepted a vehicle upon its arrival at Sète port carrying 2,692 kg of drugs, intended for the Lille metropolitan area. Searches carried out in Île-de-France at one of the suspects' premises also led to the seizure of 34,000 euros in cash.
The vehicle's driver and an alleged logistics operative were arrested at the scene. Charged on 28 May, the two men were remanded in custody pending the continuation of legal proceedings.
