The value of this seizure is estimated at over eleven million euros on the illicit market. The man, who was driving a rental vehicle registered in Spain, was taken into custody before being brought before a magistrate.

The suspect, who had no criminal record, was remanded in custody. He faces a sentence of up to life imprisonment and a fine of ten million euros for drug trafficking in an organised group.

This seizure is part of a series of interceptions carried out by customs services on the motorway routes in south-eastern France. The region, close to the Spanish border, constitutes a privileged route for the introduction of cocaine from South America via the Iberian Peninsula.
