Drug trafficking in Talant: two convicted following the largest seizure since 2024
Two men were found guilty of drug trafficking on Friday 14 August 2026 by the Dijon judicial court, according to bienpublic.com. The case follows the largest drugs seizure recorded in the region since July 2024.
It all began with an anonymous tip received the previous week. Officers from Dijon's territorial crime division (DCT) then identified an apartment in Talant before joining forces with the anti-crime squad (BAC) to conduct several surveillance operations. "People were engaging in activity that suggested drug trafficking," explained the commissioner in charge.
The transaction intercepted at the foot of a building
On Wednesday 12 August, around noon, law enforcement officers witnessed a transaction in a vehicle parked at the foot of a building. The car, driven by a man in his twenties, was intercepted a few minutes after it left. Inside, police discovered a significant quantity of drugs intended for resale in a Dijon park.
The apartment was then searched. Two men, aged 41 and 58 and already known to the justice system for similar offences, were arrested there. According to the head of the DCT, "one oversaw the entire trafficking operation," whilst "the second was responsible for cutting, packaging and selling the drugs."
In total, nearly 3 kg of heroin, 1.2 kg of cocaine and 500 g of cannabis resin were seized, along with a motorcycle used for deliveries.
"Semi-wholesalers" with unusual volumes
For the DCT official, the three arrested men are "semi-wholesalers." "The drugs found are compacted and very pure. With the quantity seized, they would have been able to supply different sales points for several days. These are not volumes that are found regularly in Dijon or even the region," he stated. The last comparable seizure dates back to July 2024 in the Grésilles neighbourhood. The officer also noted that the case "shows how much cocaine has become mainstream."
In police custody, two of the three men admitted to the facts whilst downplaying their involvement. The third refused to speak and to leave his cell.
Sentences handed down
The three men were brought before the public prosecutor on Friday 14 August. Two appeared under a procedure for appearance on prior admission of guilt (CRPC). The "supervisor" was sentenced to one year of imprisonment with immediate imprisonment. The driver of the vehicle received 10 months of suspended prison and an 800 € fine.
The third defendant, who was to be tried in immediate appearance before Dijon's magistrates' court, was ultimately placed in pre-trial detention after requesting more time to prepare his defence.
