Sélestat: sexagenarian in state of intoxication loses licence after fleeing police

According to dna.fr, a 63-year-old man, resident of Bergheim, appeared for immediate hearing on Wednesday 3 June before the Colmar court. He was being prosecuted for attempting to flee a police check during the night of 11 February 2026, shortly after midnight.
The defendant claims he neither heard the sirens nor spotted the flashing lights. "Otherwise I would have stopped," he stated at the hearing. His blood alcohol level at the time of the incident was 1.38 grammes per litre — a level at which he himself says he has few memories of the evening.
Following the hearing, his driving licence was cancelled.
