Antiseptic graffiti during antifascist forum in Lons-le-Saunier

Inscriptions calling for the murder of police officers were discovered on Sunday on public infrastructure in Lons-le-Saunier, in connection with a demonstration organised by the antifascist collective AFA 39, according to ledauphine.com.

The Jura prefect, Pierre-Édouard Colliex, announced that he had "immediately" referred the matter to the public prosecutor of Lons-le-Saunier after noting these inscriptions. "On the occasion of the demonstration called antifascist organised by the association AFA 39 in Lons-le-Saunier on Sunday 6 September, abominable inscriptions calling for the murder of police officers were made on public infrastructure," he wrote on social media X and Facebook.

The demonstration brought together approximately 200 people, according to the daily newspaper Le Progrès. It was part of an "antifascist forum" organised from Friday to Sunday, including lectures, roundtable discussions and concerts.

Colliex expressed his "total support to police officers and gendarmes" and stated that "everything will be done to ensure that the perpetrators of these criminal acts are quickly identified, apprehended and brought before the courts to answer for their actions".
