Officers from the Toulouse DCOS brought an end to the activities of a drugs network by apprehending a 26-year-old man on 29 May. The suspect was caught red-handed at Bordeaux railway station with 3.5 kilos of heroin concealed in his suitcase. Investigators had been tracking him for approximately one year.
This alleged man in his forties played a central role in supplying an itinerant sales point operating in the Pink City. He made regular trips between Toulouse and northern France, near Belgium, to collect large quantities of drugs. The journeys were made primarily by rail, departing from Matabiau station. Each trip allowed him to bring back several hundred grammes, or even several kilograms of narcotic substances.
The case began around one year ago when law enforcement identified an account on the Telegram application used to distribute heroin. Behind this profile was a mobile delivery service called "Pochon bleu". Transactions took place electronically: customers ordered online and meeting points constantly changed location, thereby avoiding traditional dealing spots.
Although less visible than the cannabis or cocaine trade, heroin maintains a presence in the Toulouse city. The Gloire district is particularly identified as an area where this substance continues to circulate. On the local market, a gramme is negotiated between 30 and 40 euros. The haul seized during this operation represents an estimated market value of more than 100,000 euros.
Shortly after this arrest, investigators also identified and apprehended the main dealer of the network. He was already in police custody for burglary offences. Preliminary estimates indicate that this organisation distributed several kilos of drugs each month across the Toulouse region. Presented to the prosecutor on Monday, the two individuals were to be remanded in custody shortly.
