Drug trafficking in Upper Corsica: six charged, two remanded in custody
Six people were charged on Thursday 4 June in Bastia for drug trafficking between the Plaine orientale and Corte. Two suspects were remanded in custody.

Corsematin.com reports that six people — four men and two women — appeared before an investigating judge at Bastia tribunal on Thursday 4 June, in the context of an investigation into drug trafficking between the Plaine orientale and Corte.
Following submissions before the judge of liberties and detention, Cem Cuny and Mohamed Saassoui were remanded in custody. The four other charged individuals — Manon Simons, Fanny Imbert, Aymeric Guillaume and Soufiane Zeghari — were released subject to judicial supervision.
Jean-Philippe Navarre, prosecutor of the Republic at Bastia, confirmed the facts to Corse-Matin: "Following a preliminary investigation conducted by the Bastia prosecutor's office and entrusted to the gendarmerie research section of Corsica, six people were referred before an investigating judge in the context of charges being brought for drug trafficking and criminal conspiracy. These arrests took place in the Plaine orientale and the surroundings of Corte. The trafficking had been occurring since the end of 2025 and involved the sale of cocaine and cannabis."
The arrests had taken place on Monday 1 June, when approximately ten people were arrested in Upper Corsica by gendarmes. Several of them were released without any charges being brought. Drug seizures as well as seizures of cash were carried out during searches, according to information from corsematin.com.
The prosecutor notes that several of the suspects are already known to the judicial authorities. Maître Dominique Paolini, lawyer for Soufiane Zeghari, declined to make a statement. The legal representatives of the other charged individuals could not be identified.
